I wanted an excuse to eat a lot of hashbrowns

Happy Tuesday everyone,

After days of extensive research, my sister and I spent the morning driving to every drive-thru establishment that our research said had hashbrowns (our Taco Bell and Wendy's do not serve breakfast and we couldn't find the Dunkin Donuts) in order to give my humblest of opinions on the best hashbrown.

Quick before you scroll to the end of the post! What do you think is the best fast food hashbrown? That sounded like Dora. Did you read it in her voice? This took a really weird turn.

Anyways to the hashbrown mobile [insert potato theme song].

And it just keeps getting weirder.


The worst hashbrown by our taste testing abilities was from Carl's Junior.

#8 Carl's Junior
We ran into a problem with Carl's Junior, Chick-Fil-A and Burger
King because they had nearly identical hashbrown bites. They honestly could have been the exact same hashbrowns that they bought frozen from a vendor so we had to rank all of them pretty low for unoriginality. As for their star-shaped nuggets I would rank them at the very top accept they need to sell them by the twenty like McDonald's rather than by the nine. I don't like any of their sides so I need a lot of nuggets. Or if it has a green burrito I'll also take some tacos.

#7 Chick-fil-A
Clairemont recently(ish) got a Chick-fil-A that I've been meaning to go to and as this was our first time we decided to also get some chicken nuggets and we were devastated. The nuggets and the hashbrowns were a flop for us. They did not live up to the hype.

#6 Sonic
Now Sonic does not have hashbrowns but we included it because they do have tater tots which in my opinion are very similar. They're good if you really need some tots in your life as I often do but they're still pretty basic. It's also pretty similar to the small circle hashbrowns just a slightly different shape.

#5 Burger King
Once again your basic little circle hashbrowns but this batch tasted
just a little bit better than the others.

#4 Del Taco
Del taco seems like a really weird place to get breakfast but it turns out they do have some breakfast burritos that you can order with a side of hashbrown sticks (like how Jack in the Box used to make theirs). After eating three very similar circular hashbrowns we really liked these. My favorite part of a hashbrown is the crispy edge so I liked having more edges.




#3 Jack In The Box
The square hashbrown at Jack's may seem pretty basic but again
compared to the three places that had circular hashbrowns this was a lot better. It also just tasted better. I'm also a breakfast sandwich fan and I like to add the hashbrown to it so this size and shape is the best for that.

#2 Arby's
As this is a hashbrown taste test I could not in good conscious put Arby's potato cakes at number one, no matter how much I love them. We had to knock off at least one point to be fair to the other contestants. This can't be just any potato taste test. That would get out of hand really fast.

Pro tip - I like to get potato cakes with my french dip and dunk them in the leftover juice. Yum!

#1 Mc Donald's

Going into this I thought we would be picking Mc Donald's as the best hashbrown but I was also hoping we might find some secretly amazing hashbrown at another place. But Mc Donald's has the perfect amount of crispiness, potato, and hashbrown magic. They serve select breakfast items all day including their hashbrowns and it's really close to my house.


Now, I have to go. I have a major food coma to sleep off.
