Pride (San Diego 2018)

Happy Tuesday everyone it is actually Tuesday!

To start off, this post is almost three weeks late because I wanted to do a photo shoot with my Pride shirts but it's been too hot to wear makeup. and I'm not good at posing for photoshoots so I just ended up dancing to music and my nine-year-old sister is my photographer so I got a lot of pictures like these.

This is my third year volunteering with Pride (because I'm too cheap to buy a ticket) but only my second year blogging about it.

What's in my Pride bag 2018? Packing for Pride is essential.

Portable fan
Sunscreen

Deodorant
Sunscreen
Perfume
Did I mention SUNSCREEN?!
I burn easily, I sweat a lot and I get very uncomfortable in the heat so this is what I pack to try to stay cool and fresh.

I also pack...
Portable charger
Wallet with cash (not all places take card!)
Phone with my debit card (in my pocket)
Keys (in my pocket)

I don't pack any water or food because Pride treats volunteers right and provides all of that for us.

Day 1

Of course the shirts this year are the one color I didn't want. Not only do I just dislike pink in general but I'm basically the same color as the shirt, especially when I'm working in the sun. This is me looking like a grumpy Miss Piggy because I hate pink. >

I walked the full circle of booths but I got tired near the end so I didn't hit every single one. I knew I would be doing it again the next day so I didn't try too hard to collect all of the free stuff. <I did get HIV tested and I'm negative.

I organized the list first by quality (bags, T-shirts, and planners) then by the quantity.

1 tote bag (proof of how lazy I am because usually, I end up with ten.)
1 T-shirt (It's too small so I won't be keeping it.)
1 Passion Planner (They had the huge ones this year and I'm a bit sad because I prefer the smaller one.)
5 condoms
5 stickers
5 treat bags for all of the pets in my house
4 hand sanitizers
2 pens
2 beaded necklaces
1 lugage tag (A bit weird. I've never seen people give those out before.)
1 magnet
1 sticky not/clip/magnet
1 pair of sunglasses (It says useacondom.com on the side. It makes me laugh.)
1 bracelet
1 box of mints
1 cross pin made of rainbow ribbon
I also got like three free hugs.

One of the perks of being a volunteer is they provide meals, snacks, and water. So I got breakfast, lunch, a bunch of snacks and water. I was running the water and ice booth so people kept coming up to me and asking where they could fill up their water bottles but it didn't seem like such a place existed. Either you had to bring in your own water or buy water inside the festival. A lot of people did bring their own water but it's hot and there's a lot of walking around so if they finished it they had to buy water. The tickets and booths that sell things are so expensive that when people realized they had to buy water, they didn't have any money. So I was really happy to get free water for being a volunteer but also disappointed in Pride for, as a festival attendee I talked to put it, "Encouraging heat stroke."

Day 2
After my shift, I walked the circle again with my uncle and we pretty much hit every single booth. By the time we were ready to leave I had two heavy bags full of stuff.

7 bags
2 passion planners (my uncle gave me the stuff he didn't want)
12 bracelets
11 pieces of candy
8 pens
6 cups (1 is a bottle)
6 condoms
5 pins
5 stickers (My favorite is on the right)
4 Larabars (I ate one. I don't like them.)
4 beaded necklaces (one of them is a bunch of different piece of other necklaces stuck together so it's rainbow)
4 chapsticks
3 pairs of sunglasses
2 rubber duckies
2 hand sanitizers (turns out one of them is a sunscreen spray)
2 coupons for Uber Eats
2 bag clips
2 little bells
2 phone wallet sticker things
1 horse stuffed animal (They said her name was Bridget)
1 plastic rainbow flag
1 stress ball
1 bubbles
1 weird plastic lais necklace
1 glowstick necklace
1 lanyard
1 keychain clip thing
1 rainbow headband
1 band-aid holder full of band-aids
1 giant light tube
1 bag of goldfish
1 glasses cleaning cloths
1 magnet

That's all I have for this year's Pride post. If you want to know more, check out my post from last year.
