February Book Review (4)

Happy Tuesday everyone if I had posted this on the last day of the month it would have been Tuesday,

Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon

This book is a movie that is coming out very soon and I wanted to go see it but I have to read the book before I see the movie. I've done that with every book-to-movie adaption with the exception of Harry Potter because the movies came out when I was too young to read the books.

When I'm sad I got to the bookstore for hours and often read entire books in the store. The copy of Everything Everything they had was hardback and I don't like to buy hardbacks because they're so expensive. So I read the entire book in the store and did not buy it. This may be seen as stealing but I am more than likely to buy the book later if I liked it.

On to how I actually liked the book. I really loved the storyline of someone being unable to leave their house for 18 years because it's something I don't know anything about. So I found it very interesting. I liked it a bit less when the boy came into the picture because it started to feel a lot like The Fault In Our Stars, which I didn't really enjoy. So the girl leaves her house with the threat of dying to have a perfect day with the boy and you start to feel like she's going to die. Which is very like TFIOS where they go on their last adventure before they think the girl is going to die. The story turned around again though and shocked me in an amazing way that I loved. The ending is great and unexpected so much so that I will not write it here because you should read it for yourself.

Also, the cover is very pretty.

Rest In The Morning by r.h. Sin and I Wrote This For You.

I love poetry and I've always wanted to read a r.h. Sin book. I've seen a lot of his work on social media. Little snips here and there that made me interested in reading more of his work. I put these both together because they were both very similar in content. Although I wrote this for you included a photo with every poem and had an interesting concept of being specifically written for however picked it up.

I think poetry is meant to be read many times before one can completely understand and accept the meaning which is why I don't have as much to say about these two books after the first read. I really liked both and can't wait to read them again. I was so excited to read them the first time that I read them really fast so I'm excited to take a second and slower look.

Underwater by Marisa Reichardt

This was my favorite book this month. It's about a teenage girl who survived a school shooting and is so traumatized by the experience that she can't leave her apartment. The book is the story of her working through it. It was a bit similar to Everything Everything where the girl doesn't leave where she lives until a boy moves in next store and she realized she wasn't really happy and wants more. So that was a little annoying as well as the whole boy comes in and saves the girl story line but that comes with the genre. That's why I like to shake up genres because sometimes adult romance gets old and then teen romance gets old and it huts your head to read too much poetry and Shakespeare. For some reason, this book really grabbed me and stuck out to me. It felt good in my hands.

Good night,
Totally Ky

I don't like filters that change my eye size or color.
